University of Pennsylvania Announces MOU With Seoul National University

SEOUL, KOREA –- In a ceremony today at Seoul National University (SNU), the University of Pennsylvania (Penn) and SNU announced an agreement recognizing shared academic interests between the two universities. The memorandum of understanding builds on school and program partnerships already in place, and will allow the universities to explore further collaborative research projects and other academic activities.

Penn Recognized Nationally as a Top School for Community Service

 PHILADELPHIA -– The University of Pennsylvania is among 114 colleges and universities named to the 2010 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll with distinction by the Corporation for National and Community Service.  Penn was cited for its outreach to the West Philadelphia community.

Penn Libraries to Digitize 17th- and 18th-Century Manuscripts

PHILADELPHIA —The National Endowment for the Humanities has awarded Penn’s Rare Book & Manuscript Library a grant of $300,000 to digitize and make available on the World Wide Web a collection of approximately 1,000 European and American manuscripts from 1601 to 1800.

Penn Researchers Identify the Roots of Memory Impairment Resulting From Sleep Deprivation

PHILADELPHIA — From high-school students to surgeons, anyone who has pulled an all-nighter knows there is a price to be paid the next day: trouble focusing, a fuzzy memory and other cognitive impairments.  Now, researchers at Penn have found the part of the brain and the neurochemical basis for sleep deprivation’s effects on memory.
