Immigrant-Rights Group Unveils a ‘Fair Common Application’

January 25, 2013

Activists in a student-led immigrant-rights group have unveiled a spinoff Web site modeled on the Common Application that aims to pressure the widely used admissions portal to include "undocumented American" in its demographic questions and "undocumented status" in its nondiscrimination clause. Fair Common Application, as the new site is known, borrows heavily from the Common Application's Web site, reproducing its look and language. The imitation, the activists said, is a "creative protest" meant to draw attention to the difficulties immigrant students face when applying to colleges.
