WHAT:       The Youth Urban Mobile Market, a youth-driven bicycle cart filled with fresh fruits and vegetables that are for sale in West Philadelphia neighborhoods from 52nd to 60th streets.  YUMM will be launched at the first-ever Youth Growers Market, where young urban gardeners will sell fresh produce that they have grown themselves.

 WHO:        The YUMM cart is staffed by young people taking part in the Agatston Urban Nutrition Initiative, a program of the Netter Center for Community Partnerships at the University of Pennsylvania, and is one of the first to be launched by the Food Fit Philly’s Healthy Cart program.

                     AUNI teaches children and adults to grow, cook and eat simple, healthy food, and emphasizes that obesity and limited access to fresh, healthy food are health problems for many communities.

Vendors at the Youth Growers Market include the AUNI programs at the School of the Future, Pepper Middle School and these youth gardening programs: MLK High School’s Seeds for Learning, Saul High School’s Henry Got Crops, Philadelphia Urban Food & Fitness Alliance, Earth Keepers and Walnut Hill Farm.
