On Thursday, Oct. 13, the School of Engineering and Applied Science will present its Harold Berger Award to Chu. The award is given to recognize a technological innovator who has made a lasting contribution to society. Previous winners include Nobel Prize-winning chemist Thomas Cech; gene-sequencing and synthetic biology pioneer J. Craig Venter; and inventor Dean Kamen who developed the Segway.  

The Berger Award ceremony, where Chu will present his lecture, is open to the public. Seating is limited and provided on a first-come, first-served basis. A reception in Levine lobby will follow.
