For two decades, Scott Reikofski has influenced University of Pennsylvania fraternities and sororities, as well as Greek life nationally and internationally.

Reikofski, Penn’s Director of Fraternity Sorority Life, has designed programs and assisted other college campuses with fraternity/sorority life issues and worked to create partnerships with other campuses.

Now, his peers have honored him for his work.

Reikofski received the Sue Kraft Fussell Distinguished Service Award from the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors on Dec. 1 in Indianapolis.  The award is named for a former director of the association.

The group recognized Reikofski’s leadership as chair of the Fraternity and Sorority Knowledge Community, which created partnerships with senior student affairs officers, and said Reikofski “embodies lifetime commitment to the fraternity and sorority advising profession.”

“He’s helped Greeks to foster community,” says Valarie Swain-Cade McCoullum, vice provost for university life at Penn. “He has nurtured a more diverse Greek-letter community.”

McCoullom says that, under Reikofski’s leadership during the past 20 years, he has helped campus fraternities and sororities become inclusive.

Fraternity and sorority “chapters have been part of nurturing the aspirations of Pan-Asian American students, Latino students, LGBT students and anyone who wanted to be a member of a close knit community whose priority is service and which had an environment that has been increasingly more welcome with Scott’s partnership,“ she says.

Reikofski‘s association with fraternities started as an undergrad at the University of Northern Colorado as a member of the Lamda Chi Alpha fraternity. He was president of the university’s inter-fraternity council.

“I had a tremendous experience as an undergraduate in a fraternity, Reikofski says.

McCoullum says Reikofski was instrumental in helping fraternities and sororities flourish on campus and in working to revitalize some struggling organizations that experienced declining membership. 

“He has been part of a larger team that has promoted student leadership and the development of student leadership initiatives across the Penn undergraduate student community.”
