Penn’s G. Edward DeSeve Appointed to Oversee Federal Stimulus Program for Obama Administration

PHILADELPHIA –- G. Edward DeSeve, senior lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania’s Fels Institute of Government, has been appointed senior advisor to the Office of Management and Budget for Recovery Act Implementation, special advisor to the president and assistant to the vice president.

In his new role, DeSeve will have day-to-day responsibility for achieving the Obama administration’s goals for the Recovery Act, managing distribution of the $787 billion federal stimulus funds.

At Penn, DeSeve taught executive education courses at Fels, conducted research and authored “The Presidential Appointee’s Handbook. ”

He previously worked in OMB as deputy director for management and served as chief financial officer of the Housing and Urban Development Department during the Clinton administration.

Until recently, DeSeve was the chairman of Strategy and Solution Partners, which provided sustainability and consulting services to governments and nonprofits.

He has an undergraduate degree in labor economics from Cornell University and a graduate degree in government administration from Penn.
