Penn President Amy Gutmann to Introduce HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius at April 7 Community Schools Forum

 

WHO: U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, keynote speaker at the 2010 national forum of the Coalition of Community schools, will be introduced by University of Pennsylvania President Amy Gutmann. Also making remarks will be Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah and Pennsylvania Education Superintendent Gerald Zahorchak.

Joining Sebelius in her presentation on the connection between community schools and health will be U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan, via video.

WHAT
: Community schools are partnerships between schools and other community resources that focus on not only academics, but health and social services, youth and community development and community engagement, thus leading to improved student learning, stronger families and healthier communities.

Penn’s Netter Center for Community Partnerships is co-hosting this forum with the Coalition of Community Schools.
