Reed Junkin, a junior goalkeeper on the Penn men’s lacrosse team, has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week.

On Saturday, March 17, Junkin had 20 saves in Penn’s 14-7 win at Princeton, the Ivy League opener for both teams. The 20 saves were Junkin’s career high. The Wayland, Mass., native had 11 stops in the final quarter as the Quakers outscored the Tigers 6-2 to pull away for the victory. The win was Penn’s second straight triumph at Princeton after losing 13 in a row on the Tigers’ home turf from 1990-2014. The victory improved Penn’s record to 4-3.

Junkin—who was co-Ivy League Rookie of the Year in 2016 with teammate Simon Mathias—has a .575 save percentage for the season and an 8.00 goals-against average.

Penn is ranked 15th in this week’s United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association national coaches poll and will be at home twice this week, hosting Bucknell on Tuesday at 4 p.m. and Ivy rival Cornell Saturday at noon. Saturday’s game will be played on Adams Field in Penn Park.
