Furniture Guy, to teach non-credit courses at Penn

PHILADELPHIA  Ed Feldman, better known as one of the Furniture Guys on the Learning Channel, will teach two non-credit courses offered by the College of General Studies at the University of Pennsylvania.

One course, 20th Century Design Walking Tour: Furniture Galleries, will explore Philadelphias decorative-art heritage. The three sessions begin at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and continue through various furniture stores, galleries and salvage emporiums in Old City and Northern Liberties where students will learn first-hand about furniture heirlooms.

Feldman will also be part of a five-course series, Art of Appraisal, an inside look into the trade. Items to be appraised include furniture, artwork, rugs and family heirlooms.

Feldman was born and raised in Philadelphia and is a Penn graduate. He and Joe LErario host Men in Tool Belts, which originally aired on WHYY-TV before being picked up by the Learning Channel.

The gallery series will be held on three Saturdays from June 7 through June 21, and the appraisal series will be five Wednesdays from May 28 through June 25.
