Deadline is Feb. 1 for Submitting Arts Grant Applications

PHILADELPHIA –- Applications will be accepted through Feb. 1 for the spring 2010 round of arts grants, made available as part of the University of Pennsylvania’s Arts and the City Year celebration. This program will award up to $750 to arts projects scheduled for February through April.

Penn students, faculty and staff with ideas for creating, participating in or learning about the arts are invited to apply. Consideration will be given to projects that increase the number of students experiencing arts and arts resources at Penn or in the city and to collaborations with local artists and arts venues that promote undergraduate learning.

Applications will be evaluated on the quality and innovation of the proposed project and its potential to engage both the campus and Philadelphia communities. Multi-disciplinary and collaborative projects between Penn organizations and schools are encouraged. Previous experience in the arts is not a requirement, but the committee will place emphasis on an applicant’s ability to make the project work when making the awards,

Additional information, including application guidelines, is available at www.upenn.edu/provost/arts_grants or by emailing questions to Ty Furman at tyf@upenn.edu.

In the fall, six grants were awarded, totaling more than $3,000.
