Angela Davis is a professor in the History of Consciousness Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and presidential chair in African American and Feminist Studies.

Mary Frances Berry is a professor of history at Penn and the former chairperson of the U.S. Civil Rights Commission. She is the author of numerous books, including, "Long Memory: the Black Experience in America; Black Resistance/ White Law: a History of Constitutional Racism in America
